Elegant, with an artistic flair,
Celeste still calls her mother when she needs advice. In the 1920's,
Celeste moved to New York to study ballet, but lured by the bright
lights of Harlem, became a star of musical revues. In the 1950's she led
her church choir, and in the 1960's, earned a journalism degree. A
fabulous cook, Celeste invented vegetarian chic, writing the bestseller,
The 24-Hour Eggplant Diet. Attended the 1987 Tony Awards on the
arm of diet guru Les Chow. At the turn of the millennium Celeste stocked
up on batteries, bottled water, and fine champagne. |
